Professional growth, credentialing, and career advancement
SBWI offers three distinct certificate pathways designed to support professional growth, credentialing, and career advancement
Institute-Issued Certificates — Upon completing our courses, students receive certificates directly from the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute. These credentials can often be used for employer reimbursement, union education credits, or internal professional development recognition.
AIA-Accredited Certificates (Continuing Education Credits for Architects) — We partner with the American Institute of Architects to offer courses that qualify for AIA continuing education units (CEUs). Architects may apply these toward the ongoing education requirements needed to maintain licensure.
Apprenticeship-Applicable Certificates (Department of Labor Registered Programs) — Many of our certificate courses align with the requirements of Department of Labor–registered apprenticeships in preservation trades—such as Preservation Carpenter or Historic Window Technician. These certificates support the “Related Instruction” component of those apprenticeships. Historic Trades
Each certificate is designed with both practical hands-on skill building and recognized credentialing in mind—so whether you’re aiming to satisfy employer or union requirements, fulfill professional licensing obligations, or advance within a DOL apprenticeship framework, our courses offer credible, useful credentials for your career path
