US Army veteran Steve McCarroll describes his experience as a veteran transitioning from the military to civilian life, and finding the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute community. He describes it as a safe place which mirrors his core values of loyalty, respect and honor. He has met many veterans who struggle with isolation and loneliness after the military, and the people and programs at the SBWI help veterans defeat those feelings.
