The Secret Magnets

I returned Dave Boat 2 yesterday and came home with Dave Boat 3. I think I've gotten these boats in the order which they were built. Each boat is a bit different from the others and this one has some tricks that weren't in the other boats.

The accent stripe is a new design as is the design and size of the coamings. There is an access hatch on each deck which has a rubber gasket built in. The kicker on these hatch covers is that Dave had imbedded magnets in the wood on the deck and In the wood cover. Seriously. It's what holds the covers in place. I've looked and I can't find the magnets. Seriously. This is going to be a fun boat!

"Canoe Mike" Thomsen

Michael Thomsen of Tecumseh, Michigan built his first canoe because he wanted a small, easily handled boat to fish from. It turned out so nice he knew he had to build more. “Canoe Mike” has now retired from his day job as an electrician and devotes all his time to building boats and paddles. He makes wooden canoes using the wood strip and fiberglass method. He buys the caned seats and brass hardware for the boats, but hand makes all the other components of the boat. He also makes wooden canoe and kayak paddles.
