We are always looking for people with a unique mindset who love being challenged. Currently, we have openings for the following positions:

Experienced level shop work: A background in cabinet building and millwork is required for this position . 24-28 an hour to start based on experience.

Shop supervisor: This position is for someone who has at least 10-15 years of millwork/woodworking experience in a work shop environment. Some supervision and management experience is required as well. This is a salaried position with additional benefits beyond our standard benefits. You will be in charge of a 12,000 sq. shop with 6-8 employees.

Installer: This is more for the finish carpenters who already have their trucks and tools of the trade ready to go. staircase railing experience is preferable but not necessarily required. This position would start around 30-35 an hour, perhaps more, depending on experience, of course.

Design and drafting: Someone with an AutoCAD background and residential construction experience. You’ll be field measuring and then creating the stair designs as you draw in the office. This position would start between 24-30 an hour depending on experience. We’ll teach the right person whatever they need to learn.

Dena Koehn

Dena Koehn grew up in Rose City, a rural town in mid-Michigan, and moved to southern Michigan to attend Adrian College. She graduated in 2005 with a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in English. After school, she worked in marketing and sales. In 2016 Dena started teaching woodworking classes with Luke in a garage, which eventually became the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute. She has served many roles at the SBWI, including Outreach Coordinator, Shaker Box Instructor, Secretary, Treasurer, Board Member, Bookkeeper, and now Director of Operations. She is also the Event Coordinator and Social Media Director of the Great Lakes Woodworking Festival, an annual event which brings together the best woodworkers from the Great Lakes region.
