SBWI is seeking a Construction Manager at-risk for a game changing project.

For 40 years, carpentry and the skilled trades have been treated as an “alternative” — something other than real education. The Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute exists to end that narrative.

We believe that building homes, shaping communities, and working with one’s hands is not a fallback — it is foundational education. It is engineering, design, cultural preservation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving at the highest level. It forms citizens who create, not just consume.

SBWI is not a shop class. It is a post-secondary institution and emerging college campus where serious learners come to master timeless craft and future-facing building methods — from fine furniture and architectural restoration to timber framing and mass timber innovation. Our graduates are architects of the built world and stewards of culture.

This new facility — a 24,600 sq. ft. purpose-built learning environment on open rural land — is designed to be the most inspiring hands-on educational space in the country. A place that restores dignity to the trades, attracts ambitious students from across the globe, and helps rebuild the public’s belief in the value of making things well.

We are seeking a Construction Manager at Risk who believes that the future of craft, sustainability, and human-centered building begins here — and understands that this project is not just construction, but culture.
