Colorado Woodworkers Guild

The Colorado Woodworkers Guild is a group of 200 woodworkers, with skills ranging from novice to professional. Over the years, they have had members ranging in age from 13 to over 80 and with a wide variety of interests from musical instruments to furniture, to cabinetry, wood art, and turnings.

The Guild was founded in 1980 with the primary purpose of creating opportunities for learning and the sharing of information about woodworking. Membership is open to everyone without regard to skill level, age, or area of interest. The Colorado Woodworkers Guild currently has a 501c3 status. So if you aren't yet a member, jump on in and apply for membership.

Membership in the Colorado Woodworkers Guild is simple. We accept all people who have an interest in woodworking. All you need is an enthusiastic interest in woodworking! Membership includes the whole family.

Belonging to Colorado Woodworkers Guild brings many benefits to its members, which include:

  • Monthly Meetings: Meeting with other woodworkers to network, share information and learn from the excellent programs

  • Library: The Guild has a growing library of Books, Videos and Magazines that are available for members to check out.

  • Field Trips: Attending the occasional trip to visit lumber yards, mills and shops.

  • Monthly Newsletter: Receiving the newsletter with its meeting announcements, feature articles, photographs, classified ads, and other news.

  • CWG Website: Accessing the “member only” portion of the CWG website enables members to network with their fellow members, browse the library and access a Download area that includes past newsletters, Patterns and Plans, eBooks and other items.

  • Member Discounts: Members qualify for a variety of discounts offered by Guild Sponsors.

  • Commissions: Members have access to announcements about the availability of commissions for custom woodwork.

  • Shows & Exhibits: Members are able to exhibit their work in various shows and exhibits during the year.

  • Community Service: Members are able to participate in a variety of community service opportunities.

  • Instruction: Members can take advantage of a variety of instructional opportunities for no or very low fees.

  • Camaraderie: Members can enjoy the company of a diverse group of people with many of the same interests.

Dena Koehn

Dena Koehn grew up in Rose City, a rural town in mid-Michigan, and moved to southern Michigan to attend Adrian College. She graduated in 2005 with a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in English. After school, she worked in marketing and sales. In 2016 Dena started teaching woodworking classes with Luke in a garage, which eventually became the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute. She has served many roles at the SBWI, including Outreach Coordinator, Shaker Box Instructor, Secretary, Treasurer, Board Member, Bookkeeper, and now Director of Operations. She is also the Event Coordinator and Social Media Director of the Great Lakes Woodworking Festival, an annual event which brings together the best woodworkers from the Great Lakes region.
