Program Description:
Objects can do more than be useful — they can tell a story, convey a message, communicate values, or have deep meaning. While makers often focus on the “how” of a craft, we frequently relegate the “why” to the background. This class provides makers the opportunity to explore the purpose behind their work and practice bringing storytelling to the process.
In this course, students will engage in intellectual play, brainstorming, and collaboration as they plan, design, and make an object with meaning. Over the course of two days, we will work together to help each other produce an object that informs, delights, or spurs conversation.
All skill levels are welcome, but please note that the class will emphasize creative process and narrative design over technical skill development.
