Youth Scholarships
America’s Vietnam Veterans Scholarship
The Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute is honored to offer a youth scholarship sponsored by Susan Tobey of Adrian, Michigan, in memory of America’s Vietnam Veterans. This scholarship will provide one young person the opportunity to attend SBWI’s Woodworking for Teens class, where they will learn foundational woodworking skills, shop safety, and the confidence that comes from making something with their own hands. Through this gift, we honor the service and sacrifice of Vietnam Veterans while helping inspire the next generation of craftspeople.

Gary Leversay Scholarship
Scholarship available for the Woodworking for Teens class, in memory of Gary Leversay. Gary was known for his kindness and slightly corny sense of humor. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Gary also had a love and talent for woodworking, which started at a young age. Gary’s dad was a carpenter, and Gary followed in his father’s footsteps – developing a passion for finish carpentry and making wood furniture. He especially liked working with exotic woods and quarter-sawn oak. In hopes of inspiring that same love of woodworking for another young person, a scholarship in Gary’s name has been created.
